Detroit Lights

Parametric surface textures control light diffusion and shadow casting. These algorithmic lighting fixtures explore computation as a formal language--patterns that could only be generated through code, 3D-printed in translucent polymers with UL listed electrical components. Made to order in Michigan.

Design Approach

Detroit Lights employ parametric surface patterning to control light diffusion and shadow casting. The algorithmic texture creates visual interest while serving functional requirements for ambient and task lighting.

Shade styles are made in two personalities. Style A takes on a louder expression while style B carries a timeless, classic lampshade profile.

MATERIALS & FINISH

Shade is made from recycled semi-translucent PETG, recycled polyactic acid (plant-based polymer)
